Description
The Tillotson-Pearson built Manta Clipper 34 is a performance-oriented sailing vessel designed by Garry Hoyt. This 34-foot design features a forward helm and is easily handled thanks to a unique sail plan that sets it apart from conventional sailboats. The innovative roller reefing rig and thoughtfully designed deck layout favor simplicity, safety, and efficient short-handed sailing. As a planing hull, the Clipper’s speed is not restricted by traditional displacement hull limitations. Garry Hoyt believed there was a need for a better, safer sailboat that would sail exceptionally well while remaining fun and exciting.
Built by Tillotson-Pearson in Rhode Island, also builders of J/Boats, Alden Yachts, and large windmill blades, the Manta Clipper is known for its solid vinylester construction, stiff ride, and strong sailing performance.
The Clipper offers standing headroom throughout along with a large dining cockpit featuring an ice box, fold-down table leaves, and seating for twelve with full-length cushions. Sun protection is provided by a full or partial roller-furling bimini. Garry Hoyt’s experience demonstrated that as the wind increases, the sails can be rolled up to reduce heeling without sacrificing speed. The bipod mast adds structural rigidity without creating excessive hull loading and also provides a small leading edge for the mainsail.

Our company was founded by Jack Hargrave in 1957 in Palm Beach, Florida. In addition to being a Hall of Fame yacht designer best known for his work with builders like Amels, Burger, and Hatteras yachts, Jack Hargrave was also a highly successful yacht broker, as was his father before him. If you are not familiar with our company, Hargrave Yachts is one of the oldest and most respected yacht brokerage firms in the State of Florida. In addition to being a full-service yacht brokerage organization we maintain an in-house service department that our customers rate as 5-Star. When most yacht manufacturers put in their own in-house design and engineering departments we made the decision to begin building yachts in the 65â-200â size range under the Hargrave brand name in 1997. As we tell all our brokerage clients, "If we can't find the perfect boat for you we'll build it!"
